WHY SHOULD I ATTEND A STEP 2 CS PREPARATION PROGRAM?

With the increasing difficulty matching in today’s healthcare environment, medical graduates must pass the Step 2 CS examination on their first attempt.  Unfortunately, the number of graduates failing the Step 2 CS exam one or more times has increased with each passing year.  Medical graduates must strive to distinguish themselves from the competition during the match, and failing the CS exam is simply not an option. Most medical graduates choose to save money preparing for the exam by studying on their own or with their fellow colleagues, but statistics show that this alone is simply not enough to pass.  Students spend on average in excess of $100,000 on their medical education and accumulate a large amount of debt, but when their future in medicine is on the line they are choosing to prepare on their own for the CS exam because they have been listed on the difficulty of the exam or just to save some money.  Imagine what failing the CS exam would do for your career in medicine.  By taking the USMLE Success Academy’s Live Step 2 CS Preparation Program you will master the skills required to pass the exam and guarantee that your time, money, and investment in your future was not wasted away.

STEP 2 CS LIVE PROGRAM DETAILS

Our Live USMLE Step 2 CS Program + Mini-Mock Exam is a comprehensive 6-day Program (weekdays from 8:00am – 4:00pm from Monday – Friday + Saturday Mini-Mock Exam (3 hours total)) that has been designed to ensure that every student that walks through our doors, no matter what their background is, will leave us being 100% prepared and confident in their ability to pass the CS exam.  Our Step 2 CS Program covers the most current and up-to-date cases being tested on the CS exam in all  the test centers around the Nation.  During each session, our students individually cover each and every aspect of the Step 2 CS examination (ICE, CIS, & SEP) by being immersed into our exclusive patient encounters.  We have learned, through years of trial-and-error, that the most effective strategy for helping students master the CS material is by keeping our classes small and by immersing students into every possible clinical scenario they may see on the exam, and then addressing and correcting any weaknesses they may have as they progress forward to the more difficult, challenging cases.  Our unique, one-of-a-kind approach employed in our Step 2 CS Preparation Program simply works.  Since launching our Step 2 CS Preparation Program in 2012, our students’  success rate proudly remains at 100%!

The Success Academy’s 6-day comprehensive Step 2 CS Program + Mini-Mock Exam will develop your skills in the following ways:  by determining your individual strengths and weaknesses; building upon your strengths, while correcting all your weaknesses as you progress through your patient encounters; by practicing/critiquing your technique until it is flawless; and testing you daily on the currently being tested case scenarios in order to ensure that you will pass the actual exam.  Our 6-day Program will cover all of the necessary ‘must know’ and currently being tested cases (approximately 75 cases will be covered during the Program), thereby allowing you to gain the practical, hands-on experience required to succeed on the exam.  Additionally, you will be provided with direct, detailed feedback from the MD instructor(s) assessing your performance following each and every unique patient encounter so that you may build upon strengths and conquer your weaknesses prior to the actual exam because a poor performance during any of the patient encounters is simply not an option.

.

THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR STEP 2 CS PROGRAM

Our Step 2 CS Program is unlike any other in the nation:

  • We limit each session to 3 students per MD instructor in order to provide you with crucial 1-on-1 attention throughout your entire Program
  • Our Patient Encounters cover the most up-to-date, currently being tested cases throughout the Nation!
  • Our Mini-Mock Exam and 6-day Program is conducted in simulated CS exam rooms, as well as computer rooms for preparing the Patient Note, thereby giving you the exact same experience you will encounter during the actual CS exam
  • You get hands-on exposure and training, as well as immediate feedback on strengths and weaknesses
  • You will personally cover no less than 35 Patient Encounters, with additional coverage of 40+ associated cases (the CS is a practical, hands-on exam, thus the only way to ensure 100% success is by having each student actively going through all of the potential cases they may experience during the exam)
  • Following each of the 35 timed Patient Encounters (15 minutes for the actual encounter + 10 minutes for preparing the patient note), your MD instructor will fully assess your strengths and weaknesses, correct any weaknesses with you, and provide crucial advice and expert tips in order for you to gain the experience required to excel on exam day
  • You will receive the following course materials immediately upon registering in order to adequately prepare prior to joining us on Day 1: Review of Systems (CNS, GI, Renal, Respiratory, Musculoskeletal, & CVS); Mnemonics Review Guide; CS Patient Note Preparation Guide including 20 Practice Patient Notes; and Student Manual
  • Taught by MDs who are CS exam experts and have taken and passed the exam themselves (other programs do not use MDs to teach their courses and have 1 instructor for dozens of students…. We utilize 1 MD instructor for every 3 students!)
  • You will cover up to 65 cases with plenty of hands-on, 1-on-1 training
  • We’re right down the street from the actual Step 2 CS test center (we are the only program in the Nation that is minutes away from an actual CS testing center.  You can prepare with us and then take your exam, it doesn’t get any easier!)
  • PASSING SCORE GUARANTEED!

STEP 2 CS MINI-MOCK EXAM DETAILS

Our Live USMLE Step 2 CS Mini-Mock Exam is composed of a five (5) patient encounter practice examination that will allow us to fully assess your skills and abilities to successfully pass the actual Step 2 CS exam well in advance of test day.  The Success Academy’s Mini-Mock Exam has been structured to allow our Team of Physicians (all Instructors are MDs that have taken and passed the CS exam) to quickly and accurately assess our students’ abilities and determine their level of competence in only five (5) full standardized patient encounters.  When students are finished performing their five (5) full standardized patient encounters (Interview, Physical Exam, Closure, Patient Note), we provide each student with comprehensive feedback and grading of their performance that will determine their ability to pass the actual exam.

Students taking part in our Mini-Mock Exam will be evaluated on all of the components required to successfully pass the exam, including:

1. The ICE Component:  This component of the examination will assess your ability to properly and appropriately interpret and gather data from your patient, and how you relay that crucial information through your patient note.  Our observing Physicians will assess your ability to perform these tasks and provide you with detailed feedback regarding your strengths, weaknesses, and areas that may need improvement.

2. The CIS Component:  This component of the examination will assess your ability to display appropriate communication skills, how you develop a relationship with your patient, how you gather pertinent information from them, and how you provide the information gathered to them as required.  This component also tests your ability to help the patient make informed decisions and how you provide them with emotional support throughout the encounter.  This portion of the exam will be rated by our team of standardized patient MDs who have the necessary medical knowledge and training to ensure accurate feedback.

3. The SEP Component:  This component of the examination will assess your ability to use appropriate language throughout the encounter.  During the actual exam, examinees are evaluated based on their ability to speak clearly and properly, to ensure full patient understanding, and to limit the efforts required of the standardized patient to fully understand the examinee.  This portion of the exam will be rated by our standardized patient MDs who have the necessary medical knowledge and training to ensure accurate feedback.

Following the completion of all five (5) standardized patient encounters, our Team of Physicians will assess and grade your performance on each encounter, providing you with the comprehensive feedback required for you to know whether or not you possess the necessary skills to confidently and successfully take and ultimately pass your Step 2 CS exam.  In addition to providing you with detailed recommendations to improve your overall abilities, our Team of Physicians will assess any potential areas of weakness in your performance during each of the encounters.  Following the encounters, our Physicians will guide and counsel you on your performance during each encounter, thereby ensuring that you can improve and overcome any potential weaknesses you may have prior to taking the actual exam.

.

THE BENEFITS OF TAKING OUR STEP 2 CS MINI-MOCK EXAM:

Our Step 2 CS Mini-Mock Exam is unique because:

  • We limit the number of students participating to one (1) per session, giving you full, uninterrupted attention by our Team of Physicians.
  • Our Mini-Mock Exams are taken in CS-like exam rooms, giving you the same experience as the actual CS exam.
  • You get immediate, direct feedback and correction of potential weaknesses.
  • We provide you with 1-on-1 consultation following your exam, thereby allowing you to ask questions and/or seek guidance as you move forward.
  • You will experience cases similar to the actual CS exam, ensuring the level of difficulty and challenges are exactly as you can expect them to be during the exam.
  • We’re minutes away from the Step 2 CS test center (we are the only CS preparation center that offers this convenience).
  • We identify any potential weaknesses well in advance of you taking the actual exam for a minimal investment, ensuring that you do not fail on exam day.

.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU COME IN:

1. Short 15-minute introduction to the Mini-Mock Exam (procedures for the exam).

2. Five (5) back-to-back standardized patient encounters in a controlled, realistic environment (timed) – approximately 3hrs total.

3. Exam results, comprehensive feedback, and 1-on-1 consultation following your Mini-Mock Exam.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER REGISTERING:

Once your registration is received, you will be contacted via email to confirm your registration and to provide you with the course materials included in the Program .  Prior to your session start date, you will also be sent a welcome package with instructions about our Center location and getting started.

Please note: Each session is limited to only 3 students per MD and typically fill up 6-8 weeks prior to each session.  If you would like to register for an upcoming session, please do so well in advance of your preferred start date as many students have missed an opportunity to join a session due to the unavailability of additional spots.

Additional Note:  Students registering for the 6-day Step 2 CS Live Program + Mini-Mock Exam will be contacted by one of our Team Members  following their registration in order to book a specific time for the Mini-Mock Exam to take place on the Saturday immediately following the completion of the 5-day Program.

Additional Note: If you require lodging, our CS headquarters in Schaumburg, IL (located just 20 minutes West of Chicago) is located down the road from our lodging partner, the Holiday Inn Rolling Meadows.  We can set-up these accommodations for you if you like upon your registration so that you can take advantage of our special USMLE Success Academy discount (the nightly room rate is $80.00 total/per night and includes free daily breakfast, free wi-fi, and free shuttle service to/from our Center, O’Hare International Airport, and within a five (5) mile radius of the Hotel).
