Indications for C-Section – USMLE examinations

The indications for C-section include:

  1. Large Fetus
  2. Hyperextended Head
  3. Footling Breech
  4. Fetal Distress

External Cephalic Version – Don’t attempt this until 37 weeks


  • < 28 weeks approximately 25% of fetus’ are breech.
  • By 34-36 weeks those will mostly change to cephalic
  • A baby in breech at 36 weeks now only has a 6% chance of turning cephalic before delivery
