focus on winning the dayTHE KEY TO LONGTERM SUCCESS? WIN ONE DAY AT A TIME

The following post may seem like it’s inspirational for the sake of saying something inspirational, but as you read it, I want you to apply it to the way you prepare for your USMLE Exams. I wrote this post with your USMLE preparation in mind, but hope that you’ll see that it’s applicable to every aspect of your life.

Enjoy!

It’s easy to assume that successful people have some innate quality that magically leads them to success, but that just isn’t the case.

The secret to attaining success and achieving your goals is simple… Have a goal, create a plan to get there, and take it one day at a time. Studying for the hardest test of your life? Create a goal, map out a plan to get there, and attack each day with ferocity and laser-focus.

By winning the day, you’ll start to win the week… String together a few super productive weeks, and you’ve won the month… String together a few super productive months, and you’ve won the year… String together a few super productive years, and you’ve won in life. There’s nothing easy about becoming successful and achieving ambitious goals, it will take hard work but it is worth it.

Achieving huge goals isn’t the result of taking massive action whenever we feel like it… it is the result of behaving in a way that reflects where we want to end up, day in and day out. If you want to win the day, every single day, you’ll need to develop discipline. You won’t want to execute a laundry list of ‘to dos’ every single day, and this is where discipline comes in.

If you’re studying for the USMLE Exams, there’s not one big thing you need to do to be successful…  Success will be the result of doing all of the small things to the best of your abilities, again and again. Make sure every practice question or review session you do receives 100% of your focus.

The easiest way to reach your goals is to make whatever it is that you’re doing right now the most important thing in your life in that moment.

If what you’re doing in the moment is done with the goal of perfection, you’ll start to accumulate wins that will turn into longterm successes.
